Out of Atlas, Human Resistance
Over the past few years, Atlas has campaigned against the biggest threats our future is facing. From protesting for Hong Kong's freedom to boycotting Russian presidency of the UN Security Council, from supporting our members on the Sumud Flotilla to Gaza to running a people's candidate as UN Secretary-General, we have never relented. Out of that work, we're now building Human Resistance. It opens today.

Human Resistance is a political movement to win back our future from machines, empires and oligarchs. We're starting from AI because that's where power is piling up fastest. A few companies are deciding how this technology gets built and used, and the governments that should be checking them are mostly trying to attract them. If nobody pushes back, we could end up in a world where no one is really in control anymore. It's the dawn of technofascism.
Of all the threats we have fought, the concentration of power that new technology makes possible is the one becoming most visible, and the one where the least has been done to stop it. To our knowledge, there is not a political movement organizing to fight back. So we are doing it ourselves. The manifesto is here if you want to know why we are embarking on this.
Our past work taught us that the things that work happen when people meet in person, in many countries at once. So the first thing we're doing is AI-Free Zones. These are gatherings where people sit together, human to human, talk and learn about the big questions for our future (AI, imperialism, oligarchy) and decide how to organise to resist. The first one is in Paris this Sunday, 4 October, on the rise of technofascism. In the coming weeks the same discussion will happen in Canada, India, Costa Rica, Spain, Austria and Italy.
We'd love your city to be on that list. You don't need to be an expert to host one. We'll send you material to start from, and you'll have our full support. If hosting isn't for you, you can volunteer with the central team, become a member to support the work financially, or just keep following along.
If you know people who'd care about this, please forward them this email.
Tell us what you think, good or bad.
Onward!
